Bradenton toddler seriously injured in golf cart accident

BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) — A 2-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was in an accident involving a golf cart near the 3300 block of 20th Ave West in Bradenton on Monday evening. The toddler was flown to Tampa General Hospital.

Witnesses tell News Channel 8 that a teen was driving the cart fast when a wheel flew off and the toddler was ejected and then run over. According to people who live near the accident scene, the teen was often seen driving erratically in the neighborhood with the toddler on his lap. The toddler was never seen wearing a helmet or a seatbelt.

The Bradenton Police are conducting an investigation into the accident and have not released the name of the toddler or the teen. Officials have not released the condition of the toddler.
