TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – The way presidential candidate Donald Trump is expressing himself is “definitely not helpful,” the chairman of the Florida Republican Party said Sunday.
Trump, who drew thousands to a rally in Arizona this weekend, has made controversial comments about Mexico and immigration. He promised that “we will take our country back” and said that although he loved Mexico and China they both posed a threat to US.
He has also criticized fellow Republicans, saying Saturday that he couldn’t believe he was tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in a poll and calling Bush “terrible.”
RPOF chairman Blaise Ingoglia told News Channel 8 on Sunday that “we need to get away from some of this divisiveness and vitriol.”
“The problem I see is he’s making general statements, he’s generalizing, and when you do that, you cast a pretty wide net,” Ingoglia said. “What I would like to see personally from all the presidential candidates is making sure we have thoughtful debate.”
