Tampa takes a bite out of Shark Con 2015

The convention is in town Saturday and Sunday

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – From a mechanical shark you can actually ride on to a gigantic shark jaw, fans of all ages can find something to sink their teeth into at Shark Con 2015. Modeled after the famous “Comi Con” festival in California, vendors and educators from across the area flocking to the Florida Fairgrounds on Saturday to show off their love for everything “Jaws” related.

For the little ones, it’s a chance to learn more about marine life. For event organizers, it’s an opportunity to educate the community.

“If we can catch children at the right age, educate them and give them shark facts and ocean facts rather than fiction and speculation, then hopefully they can move forward knowing the actual things and having a love for the oceans from a young age and be able to protect them from the rest of their lives,” said Spencer Steward, the executive director of Shark Con.

The event runs from Saturday until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets are $4.95 for kids, $14.95 for adults.
