HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) — The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County is alerting residents to saltwater beach monitoring results.

In Hillsborough County, a health advisory has been issued for E.G. Simmons Park Beach and Bahia Beach based on the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA. This should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public, the health department warns. Samples taken were above threshold for enterococci bacteria. The beach will be re-sampled, Monday, July 13th, 2015. When re-sampling indicates that the water is within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.
