BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA)- It could be a while before the I-75 northbound ramp to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway reopens following a deadly crash.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Friday, investigators were still at the scene and the charred remains of a car that crashed had not been towed away. The I-75 northbound ramp to the Selmon Expressway was closed shortly after the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol says an initial investigation found that at about 6:57 a.m., a vehicle was traveling northbound on I-75 and exited to the Brandon access ramps. When the car was on the ramp to SR-618, it lost control, went off the road and traveled onto the west shoulder, then crashed into the overpass, overturned and caught fire.
The driver of the car died at the scene of the crash. The driver has not been identified.
