Two brothers from Brooksville traveled from Alaska to Argentina on their bikes. The brothers reached their goal, traveling about 17,000 miles, in one year and one day. “We heard about people going from Alaska to Argentina and thought it would be a crazy trip. You get to see a lot of great things and meet a lot of great people,” said Andrew Sufficool, who has biked across the United States a number of times.
The Sufficool brothers spent most of their nights pitching a tent and sleeping under the stars but on some occasions they stayed in hostels and strangers’ homes. They took those strangers up on the opportunity to enjoy hot meals.
Growing up the brothers shared a room. They say they relied on one another to get through some of the longest nights and toughest times of the road trip. “I got the opportunity to do it with my brother. He’s in a similar situation. You only live once. We dreamed about the opportunity to do these things. Let’s not be the guys when we are 80 years old sitting at home in a rocking chair saying, ‘Man, I wish I would have went on that trip. Instead, I got an extra flat screen TV or something,’” Matthew Sufficool said.
