Investigators are trying to figure out what started a deadly mobile home fire in Davenport on Tuesday morning.
Polk County Fire Rescue was dispatched to the fire at 421 Buck Trail in Davenport shortly before 6:45 a.m. A PCFR spokesperson says the firefighters arrived to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Because of the severity of the fire, there was no way units could safely go inside the home, so they attacked the fire from the outside.
Family members who live nearby could not make contact with the occupant of the home, leading firefighters to believe someone could be inside the burning home. Once crews knocked down the fire, they began sifting through the debris for signs that someone was inside. After an extensive search, the remains of one adult were found.
The State Fire Marshal is on-scene and is conducting an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a death investigation.
