In the wake of last week’s massacre, the country’s largest retailer will no longer sell Confederate flag merchandise, CNN reports. Walmart announced the decision Monday. The store sells the actual Confederate flag, in addition to T-shirts and belt buckles with the flag’s design.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said on Monday she supports removing the Confederate flag from her state’s capitol grounds. Last week’s Charleston massacre caused the debate over the flag to take a “swift turn,” CNN reports. Dylann Roof, 21, has confessed to murdering nine African-Americans in an attempt to start a “race war.” A photo shows Roof holding a gun and the Confederate flag. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
