Spring Hill family forced to move after home seller did not disclose sinkhole

Spring Hill family says the seller of their house cashed an insurance check to fix a gigantic sinkhole but pocketed the money instead

Spring Hill, FL (WFLA)- A Spring Hill family was forced to move out of their new home, after it cracked down the middle of their living room. “We couldn’t stay in the house,” said Kelly Magbee. “We couldn’t even keep the animals in the house.”

This is the latest in an 8 On Your Side investigation that found that the seller of their house cashed an insurance check to fix a gigantic sinkhole but pocketed the money instead. That seller, Glenn Jasen, instead moved down the street and spent tens of thousands of dollars fixing up another house.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened an investigation following an 8 On Your Side investigation last September. Now, FDLE says it is working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office on a criminal investigation. In the meantime, though, the Magbees had to leave their home. “We’re just looking to break even, to make things right, to get back what we put into it,” Magbee said.
