Vote for name of Sarasota Sheriff’s new patrol horse

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public to vote for the name of their new Patrol horse.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help name its newest Mounted Patrol horse, a 6-year-old Bay Thoroughbred. 

The horse stands 16.2 hands tall and was donated to the agency. His hoofed colleagues include Honor, Patriot, Major, Legacy, Sentinel, Valor, Justice and Charlie. 

Five names are being considered and are posted on the agency web site, Facebook page and Twitter. Citizens are invited to vote for their favorite between now and June 26.

Possible names are: Courage, Legend, Citation, Valiant and Freedom. To vote for your favorite name click here.
