Lakeland police investigating body found in lake

The body is believed to have been there for about 24 hours.

A body was found in Lake Morton on Wednesday June 17, 2015.

Lakeland, Fla. (WFLA) – Lakeland police are investigating a body found in a lake on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call just before noon Wednesday about a body was discovered floating in Lake Morton. The body has not been identified but LPD Sgt. Gary Gross said it is an adult white male that appears to be in his 50’s.

Gross said it is believed the body has been there about 24 hours. Investigators have called the medical examiner to the scene. The scene is on Lake Morton Drive across from the Chamber of Commerce.
