PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A serial bank robbery suspect is locked up after more than a year on the run.  Now, investigators say Anthony Maresca, 52, could also be charged with murder.

Maresca, of Clearwater, is suspected of shooting Billy Shuler, 68, to death in May of 2014 in Pasco County. He’s also suspected of robbing eight banks in Pasco, Hernando, and Pinellas counties between late 2014 until May 2015.

So far, Maresca has been charged with five bank robberies: The New Port Richey Fifth Third Bank; the Dec. 19, 2014 robbery of Cadence Bank on US Highway 19 North in Palm Harbor; the Jan. 2, 2015 robbery of Fifth Third Bank on McMullen Booth Road in Safety Harbor; the Feb. 5, 2015 robbery of Patriot Bank, located on Palm Harbor Boulevard in Palm Harbor; and the April 3, 2015 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank on Park Boulevard in Seminole.

A Pinellas County judge set his bond at $300,000 Tuesday. Investigators say they expect to charge Maresca soon with the other three robberies and Shuler’s murder.
