A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, Tampa Police confirmed. The pedestrian died.

According to TPD, the victim was crossing Hillsborough Avenue against the traffic light. A truck driver, going east on Hillsborough, had the green light but he stopped letting the pedestrian cross. After the pedestrian got to the center median, the truck started going again. The pedestrian slipped and fell on the street under the truck’s rare tires. 

The pedestrian died at the Tampa General Hospital. TPD officers say that according to the preliminary investigation, there was nothing the truck driver could have done to prevent the accident. 

Expect delays in the area. TPD officers continue their investigation.
