Happy news for the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta – their mama beluga gave birth to a calf in her tank after hours of labor.

The 59-inch female calf was born May 10. Moments after birth, her mama Maris helped her up to the surface to take her first breath. The baby weighs about 126.5 pounds.

Beluga calves are typically dark gray or brow-gray, they get darker at one month and can take up to eight years to turn fully white.

Beluga whales are classified as endangered or threatened.
