Car accident causes Tampa power outage

Tampa Police are at the scene of a crash that caused a power outage in the Sulphur Springs area.

Originally, Tampa Electric said  14,000 people were without power. Tampa Electric says all power has been restored.

A suspect, described as a black male in his 20s, drove at a high rate of speed, failed to stop a red light at E. Bird Street and N. Nebraska Avenue and crashed into an electric pole. He then hit a parked vehicle. The driver fled the scene on foot.

Detectives are working to identify the driver.
