It’s the video people can’t stop talking about – one that’s gone viral in a hurry.
Well-known lawyer John Morgan, from Morgan & Morgan, is seen in a Polk County bar, Boots and Buckles Saloon, drunk and cursing about legalizing medical marijuana. Morgan is known for his passion on the issue.
Then, he calls out his rival on Amendment Two, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
It’s no secret the two men have gone head to head in debates and vehemently disagree on the issue.
Morgan stood before a packed “ladies’ night” crowd last Thursday in the popular Lakeland bar.
“I came here to debate Grady Judd,. I went down to the Outback Steakhouse. I got f***** up and now I’m back in here! Sh** happens!”
John Morgan went on to say, “If you do nothing else on this Election Day. I want you to get your mother f****** a*ses up out of bed.”
The crowd went wild, and the longtime attorney kept going.
He joked at one point, “I didn’t smoke a… I didn’t smoke a piece of grass all the way here. But, I’ll tell you this. Once I get some. Once I get outside the borders of Polk County. I might… I might smoke a lot of grass. I’m just scared sh**less of Grady Judd.!”
Judd tells News Channel 8, he is good friends with John Morgan. What bothered the sheriff the most, he admits, is the language and the message.
“John Morgan is chanting for the reefer, for the reefer, Well, I’m for the people, this is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Amendment Two is not what it’s being sold as,” the Sheriff told us.
Judd maintains the wording on the amendment is the most troublesome.
“Amendment Two is about debilitating disease or other conditions. What’s other conditions? Uh, I don’t sleep well at night, my legs hurt?” the sheriff asked.
The sheriff also claims he was bothered by what he calls “the campaign tactic” that John Morgan used.
“They weren’t in a nursing home, they weren’t in a rehab center, they weren’t with very ill people, they were with bunch of kids screaming for the reefer, for the reefer, and that’s what Amendment Two is,” he said.
So, what was John Morgan’s response to his video?
He released this statement to News Channel 8, “Some of my speeches will be G-rated and some will be X-rated. Some will be humorous and tongue in cheek,” he said.
Morgan did point out that he was talking with young people, who will be critical, he says, voting in this election.
“While this is not language I use in church, my message is the same one. Very sick people need our help. The Florida legislators refused to even hear testimony, much less vote. My comments at the end of the unedited video are what is important. This is for my brother and hundreds of thousands of people like him. I am not a user of marijuana.”
He concluded, “I am not a marijuana guy. This is about compassion. It will not be the last time you hear a speech from me that jokes around with the crowd nor will it be the last time you hear a speech with profanity. I am not running for office and never will. That allows me to tell the truth and motivate the way I see fit.”
