More 911 trouble in Pinellas County today

The 911 system in Pinellas County is experiencing difficulty due to lightning, according to Pinellas County Spokesman Tim Closterman.

Anyone who has trouble reaching emergency operators through the 911 system in Pinellas should call (727) 588-4761.

This is the second time in a week that Pinellas 911 has experienced connection troubles.

A St. Petersburg man who thought he was having a stroke early Sunday morning ended up driving himself to the hospital for emergency treatment.. He turned out to have a pinched nerve.

The problem Sunday was a fault Verizon switch in Tampa that took technicians 22 hours to repair.

Eight On Your Side investigated the impact of Sunday’s incident and we’re digging into today’s 911 system issues, too.

Tune in tonight for the rest of the story.
