Video shows moments before circus fall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) —  Nine circus performers were seriously injured Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center after the hair-hang act for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus went terribly wrong.

Officials say a device failed, sending the performers plummeting to the ground.

Kerri Lanzieri sent in video of the fall to ReportIt. The footage, which Eyewitness News is choosing not air in its entirety due to the graphic nature, shows the performers being lifted up in the air attached to a round contraption. Just minutes after the curtain dropped something gave way and the women fell about 30-feet to the ground.
