The Pasco middle school teacher accused of using Facebook to try to entice teenagers into having sex with him is back in the Tampa Bay area.

David Wendel Thompson, 48, is a social studies teacher at Centennial Middle School in Dade City.

On March 14, he was arrested in Miami while attempting to travel to Belize. Federal agents arrested him, saying he used Facebook to entice two girls, ages 13 and 15, to have sex with him.

Thompson is being held in the Pinellas County jail on a federal marshal hold while he awaits court proceedings in federal court in Tampa. He was booked into the jail on April 1.

Thompson has worked for the Pasco School District for 20 years. He has been placed on administrative leave.
