Julie Phillips

Meteorologist Julie Phillips joined Storm Team 8 in June of 2013 as the weekend evening meteorologist and one of the meteorologists for the 4pm show. When the opportunity came to move back to Florida she could not have been more excited!

She joined Storm Team 8 after working for KTXS in Abilene, Texas for 3 years. The quickly changing and wild weather in West Texas gave her an abundance of experience forecasting severe storms and the destructive tornadoes that come along with them. While there she was able to study and earn the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Designation.

Julie attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., where she majored in both meteorology and broadcast Journalism. After studying weather in Miami, Julie is really looking forward to tracking less supercell thunderstorms and more tropical weather during Hurricane Season.

In her free time Julie enjoys trying new fitness classes at the gym and cooking. She is a big college football fan and can be caught cheering on her CANES all season long.

Julie is an active member of the Tridelta alumni group in Tampa and a member of the American Meteorological Society. She also volunteers with the Florida English Bulldog Rescue.

She lives in Tampa with two bulldogs of her own Rocco and Annie, but is a Chicagoland native. Her father grew up in Seminole though so she can remember spending many summer vacations as a kid at Treasure Island and Clearwater Beach. In fact her grandmother and Aunt and Uncle still reside in Seminole, so she is thrilled to be closer to them and of course the beach!
